Joplin Relief Organizations
Thanks to the footwork and research of my awesome wife Amy, we’re able to provide a running list of ways to help. If you are looking to volunteer or donate to the Joplin relief efforts, below are some ways to get connected. Each location is designated with “D” for donations, “V” for volunteers, or both. Some are contacts for housing while you’re in Joplin. Some may be marked with neither depending on certain conditions and needs. We will do our best to keep this list up-to-date and current. If you have an organization that should be listed, please contact us via this website or leave a comment below. This is a new list and will change as needed. We’re trying to provide information to the people that need it. It’s already hard enough to figure out what’s going on in Joplin. If you want to help, it shouldn’t be any more difficult.

Another great non-profit organization to donate to for this is Church World Service (churchworldservice.org). Their number is 800.297.1516.
Keep up the tremendous work you guys are doing.

Thanks, Josh, and also to your awesome wife Amy!
I live about an hour south of Joplin, and my parents, sister, and brother all live there. My (also awesome) husband Tom and I have spent a lot of time driving north for the past month. We’re so happy that you listed the Golden Paw Pet Resort! They are not a nonprofit, but they have taken in over 200 animals to board for displaced residents. They also have nursed baby racoons and a fawn after the tornado struck until they were able to be released into the wild. These amazing people need all of the help that they can get.
Another organization that needs support is the Joplin Association for the Blind. They are struggling to provide relief for 29 individuals who have been affected by the storm. Many are elderly and depent on routines to get through each day. These routines are now gone, and they’re having trouble coping with the fact that they can’t “go home” because what once was home is now only rubble. Donations can be sent to 311 S. Schifferdecker Ave. Joplin, MO 64801.
Also, the Joplin schools are striving to be ready to teach children in August (as was planned before the tornado struck.) 296 classrooms have been affected, and as a teacher, I can only imagine the impact that this must have. We don’t get enough from taxes to do what needs to be done, so we supplement what we get from our districts with our personal money. None of what has been lost will be covered by insurance. I’d encourage anyone who is able to do so to support a classroom.
Thank you for all that you’ve done and continue to do.
Best,
Joy Wolfe
