I had someone share this infographic with me recently and really enjoyed the information and details in it. With a few important people in my life so involved in education and technology, I thought I would share it with you as well. Having gone through school myself (as unruly and bored as I was), I can’t imagine that I wouldn’t have been a completely different student in a school using technology today. Continue Reading…

This post is a follow-up to a previous thought I had titled We Are the Internet. In that post, I touched on the concept that each individual connected to the internet is part of a larger organism, if you will. One that is constantly growing and learning.
Here, I am writing about the idea that we are all part of a larger collective consciousness, one that is made of billions of connections. At times, these connections seem arbitrary and miniscule. They seem random. Instead, think of the Internet as the mind of the world (if the world were a being), and each person connected to it is a contributing synapse. Continue Reading…
Are you thinking about starting a website for your business or organization? Want some help to start blogging? The beauty of the internet is that (to some extent) it levels the playing field. It offers opportunity for your writing and thoughts to be read by people throughout the world. You can write about anything, and often the best stuff is the material that is off-the-cuff and real. You can use a blog as a journal, diary, newsletter, informational service, photo album, news outlet, and so much more.
I listened to a podcast the other day that had Austin Kleon as a guest. In this podcast, they touched on a few good points that reminded me what creativity is all about. It compelled me to think “if I’m interested in trying to make money being creative, why don’t I have more money? When I have more money, why am I not more creative?”
]If you and I have ever talked websites, who to use as a web host, or anything related to either of those, I have more than likely recommended that you check out Hostmonster.com for your domain and hosting needs. I understand there are plenty of hosts out there that offer great services, customer support, or pricing, but it seems like more often than not, people have gone with GoDaddy. (that’s another post in itself!)

It’s been a long time coming, but the first official tweetup in Plymouth will be taking place Monday January 16th at 6pm EST at the Midas Center Coworking space in Plymouth, IN (200 N. If you are new to Twitter, you’ve been using it for years, or you manager your company’s profile, you should come out and connect with the local Twitter community.
Remember in high school how the cocky seniors would pick on the new freshmen simply because they were in a higher grade? The freshman could be a better football player, get better grades, and be a nicer person than the senior, but that didn’t matter. Occasionally we see similar relationships in social media and online. There are social media bullies, too.
Once upon a time there was a little website called MySpace.com. The overall attitude of MySpace was confidence and longevity. Every band in the world was using their platform and there weren’t any viable competitors to worry about. If you were making music, you had a MySpace account. Continue Reading…

If you use Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, or Google+ often, you are more than likely aware that a company called Klout exists.
Anyway, Klout.com partners with other companies to give away discounts and free products. Certain products are only available to people that rank for certain topics. One such perk is the Blackwing Palomino pencils. I was recently notified by Klout that I had earned this perk and needed to claim it. I love free stuff. I especially love writing utensils! Ask my wife; every time we walk through a store with an office aisle, I slow down and scan the shelves to keep an eye out for the newest pens and pencils. Continue Reading…
